Kia of Daphne in Daphne, AL welcomes military veterans with mechanical backgrounds to join as Automotive Technician Apprentices. This position is part of the Kia Veterans Technician Apprenticeship Program (VTAP), designed by Kia America to help veterans build a new career in automotive service. The VTAP is a one-year, competency-based apprenticeship. Apprentices work full-time at a Kia dealership, gaining hands-on experience and training that leads to Kia Service Technician certification. The program is GI Bill® approved, so eligible veterans can receive a Monthly Housing Allowance (MHA) during their apprenticeship. As an Automotive Technician Apprentice, expect to work closely with experienced technicians and service staff. The program focuses on developing both technical knowledge and practical skills to diagnose, service, and repair Kia vehicles. Key Responsibilities Diagnose, maintain, and repair Kia vehicles, including work on engines, transmissions, steering, suspension, brakes, HVAC, and electrical systems. Perform inspections, diagnostics, and mechanical repairs using Kia diagnostic protocols and equipment. Complete repair orders and warranty documentation according to Kia and dealership guidelines. Test drive vehicles to confirm repair quality, using appropriate diagnostic tools and equipment. Communicate with service advisors and shop foremen to support a positive customer experience. Keep the workspace safe, organized, and efficient while following dealership safety procedures. This apprenticeship offers a structured path for veterans to start a new chapter as certified Kia service technicians, combining on-the-job learning with industry-recognized training and support.
