Join our client in Darlington as a Transport Manager, where you will take charge of a dynamic and demanding department. This role is hands-on and crucial to the success of the business. You will collaborate closely with the Transport Supervisor, Customer Service & Office Manager, and the Loading Department to ensure timely and accurate deliveries to our esteemed customers in the hospitality sector across the North of England and South Scotland.
Our ideal candidate will boast a strong background in logistics or manufacturing and possess proven experience in managing high-performing teams. We seek a highly organized and dedicated individual who is ready to enhance team performance in our rapidly growing organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the Transport Department, providing strategic guidance and planning support to Transport Supervisors;
- Manage all drivers, including scheduling rotas and rest days;
- Collaborate with the HR Department on driver recruitment and selection;
- Ensure compliance with Ministry of Transport and VOSA regulations;
- Assess daily route scheduling for efficiency;
- Implement safe working systems and conduct necessary training;
- Operate within monthly financial budgets;
- Monitor staff performance, offering coaching and handling disciplinary actions as needed;
- Demonstrate flexibility in working hours, as the operation runs 24/7.
