Elmhurst University is excited to invite applications for a Graduate Assistantship in the Learning Center for the academic years 2026-2027, with the possibility of renewal for 2027-2028. This role is designed for students pursuing a graduate degree.
To be considered for this position, applicants must submit an application for admission into one of the degree-granting graduate programs offered at elmhurst.edu/graduatestudies and gain acceptance.
This assistantship provides a full tuition waiver in exchange for 20 hours of work per week, along with a bi-weekly stipend to support educational pursuits. Graduate assistants are expected to engage in their roles during the Fall and Spring semesters, with potential involvement in the January and/or Summer terms.
Eligible Graduate Programs: M. A. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, M. Ed. in Teacher Leadership, M. S. Ed. in Special Education, or Master of Business Administration.
Weekly Commitment: 20 hours
Tuition Waiver: Full
Stipend: $5,000 for the academic year, distributed as $2,500 from September to December and $2,500 from February to May.
Terms: Fall 2026 and Spring 2027, renewable for the following academic year.
Summary of Responsibilities
The Graduate Assistant will provide one-on-one support to peers, assisting them in the brainstorming, outlining, drafting, revising, and editing of writing assignments across various disciplines. This role is central to the Learning Center’s mission of empowering students through comprehensive academic support in a welcoming environment, fostering the skills and strategies essential for lifelong learning success. The position operates under the supervision of the Assistant Director of the Learning Center.
- Assist graduate students with all facets of the writing process.
- Employ inquiry-based techniques to guide peers in understanding assignments and developing their writing.
- Collaborate with the Learning Center team to create and evaluate evidence-based programming, including workshops and study groups.
- Maintain detailed records of appointments and services provided.
- Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities, both in-person and online.
- Guide students in utilizing the online scheduling system effectively.
