The scientist-engineer in this position works across hands-on animal procedures, optical system development, and computational analysis. A typical day may include rodent surgeries, aligning a spatial light modulator beam path, and coding analysis pipelines. All animal research at Astera Neuro follows IACUC-approved protocols, with veterinary oversight and compliance with the 3Rs and AAALAC standards. Main responsibilities Perform stereotaxic surgeries on rodents, including AAV viral injections, chronic cranial window implantation, and installation of GRIN lenses or miniscope mounts in mice and rats. Design, build, and improve a miniaturized two-photon microscope that integrates spatial light modulators for holographic photostimulation.
