THE JOB As an Emergency Veterinarian at VEG, you are not just a veterinary professional—you are a vital source of support and care for pets and their owners during critical moments. WHAT YOU’LL DO Respond to medical inquiries over the phone. Provide immediate patient care through our unique VEG Triage and VEG Spikes system, ensuring timely access to veterinary professionals and allowing families to stay with their pets. Collect signalment, present complaints, vital signs, and conduct thorough physical examinations. Perform diagnostic procedures, including ultrasounds, X-rays, bloodwork, and biopsies. Formulate accurate diagnoses and treatment plans for each patient.

THE JOB As a Veterinary Sonographer, you will play a crucial role in providing ultrasound support for VEG hospitals and training facilities. Collaborating closely with our emergency veterinarians, you will deliver timely ultrasound scans for pets in need. This position requires adaptability as you work with a diverse range of cases, and it involves continuous learning and the implementation of innovative techniques. Additionally, you will contribute to the coordination of educational opportunities and ultrasound training for both your home and regional hospitals, inspiring fellow VEGgies to elevate their ultrasound capabilities. Flexibility and a willingness to assist in hospital duties as needed are key components of this role. WHAT YOU’LL DO Conduct ultrasound examinations and provide training at your home and regional hospitals Build and maintain positive relationships with teleconsultation radiologists who review your studies (e.g., Antech, SonoPath, IDEXX, VetsChoice, etc.) Ensure all training materials and activities align with VEG's values, mission, and current sonographic techniques Monitor the skills of veterinary doctors and nurses using the VEG Ultrasound Certificate checklist Engage in self-assessment and program evaluation to enhance VEG’s ultrasound training initiatives Regularly meet with the medical team to discuss ultrasound cases and improve practices
