Job Overview
DMS International is currently looking for a Museum Specialist (Loan Program Coordinator) to enhance our curatorial services at a federal collections facility in Forestville, MD. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing a heritage artifact loan program, which includes meticulous documentation, expert object handling, comprehensive inventory control, and collaboration with curatorial teams and exhibition staff. We seek a detail-oriented individual with experience in museum collections management systems, capable of supporting diverse curatorial functions while adhering to the highest professional standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate the implementation and upkeep of the museum loan program, including meticulous records management and file reconciliation.
- Utilize museum collections management systems (e.g., PastPerfect, Proficio) to accurately track artifact movements and uphold metadata integrity.
- Adopt industry-standard practices for safe handling and thorough documentation of heritage asset collections and object loans.
- Create informative labels and comprehensive supporting documentation for exhibits and displays.
- Conduct and document research to verify provenance and historical significance of artifacts.
