Position Summary:
The Biorepository Technician I is responsible for supporting the shipment and receipt of biological samples, as well as their retrieval and preservation within the biorepository. This role is critical in ensuring the integrity and quality of samples that arrive daily or are stored for future research.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Freezer Monitoring: Respond promptly to freezer alarms as per standard operating procedures and monitor temperatures for freezers, refrigerators, and rooms as assigned by the manager.
- Biological Sample Receipt: Unpack specimens, accurately record information in the Incoming Shipment Batch, and ensure proper storage conditions. Create and manage associated documentation folders.
- Inventory Management: Verify incoming supplies against packing lists, quarantine raw materials for QA release, and assist in the inventory of returned specimens. Use aseptic techniques for aliquoting frozen specimens.
- Sample Retrieval and Shipping: Efficiently retrieve and ship samples based on requisitions and instructions. Conduct quality control checks on outgoing samples, update records, and ensure proper paperwork is completed.
- Miscellaneous Duties: Label vials and shipping containers, conduct dry shipper quality control, and stay updated on IATA shipping regulations. Perform additional tasks as assigned.
