The Process Development Engineer at nextern focuses on turning design specifications into practical manufacturing procedures. This role directly influences the quality and reliability of finished products by developing and refining production processes.
Main Responsibilities
- Review design specifications and develop manufacturing processes that meet quality standards.
- Assess current process capabilities, identify areas for improvement, and implement workflow changes.
- Apply technical knowledge to design new processes, tooling, and equipment.
- Prepare and release deliverables in line with design and development schedules.
- Draft installation and performance qualification protocols and reports.
- Support product line transfers within the organization.
- Document validation protocols and process characterization work.
- Offer design for manufacturing (DFM) feedback on assembly and component specifications.
- Create training materials and lead training sessions for team members.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve product design and tooling for efficient production.
- Work with external vendors to clarify product specifications and coordinate procurement of equipment, materials, and parts.
- Estimate production timelines, staffing requirements, and costs to support management decisions.
- Analyze data for process investigations, productivity improvements, cost analysis, and regulatory submissions, then document and share results.
- Take on other tasks assigned by management to help meet production goals.
