The Air Quality Analyst - Data and Modelling will join ICIMOD’s Air Quality Monitoring team in Kathmandu, Bagmati Province, Nepal. This group operates within the broader Climate and Environmental Risks strategy, focusing on the impacts of air pollution across health, climate, economic growth, and the environment in the HKH region. Air pollution levels here frequently exceed accepted standards, making this work especially important.
The main goal of this role is to address gaps in air quality monitoring. The analyst will work on analyzing and integrating varied air quality datasets, enhancing air quality dashboards, and producing evidence to inform policy and planning at both national and regional levels.
Focus Areas
- Strengthening institutional capacity: Support policy development, air pollution monitoring, and efforts to address major polluting sectors.
- Promoting cleaner solutions: Encourage the use of socially responsible investments and technologies to reduce air pollutants, including short-lived climate forcers and greenhouse gases.
This position will primarily contribute to air quality monitoring efforts.
What you will do
- Collaborate with specialists, analysts, and consultants to operationalize, maintain, and improve air quality dashboards that combine ground-based data, satellite information, and model outputs.
- Support the ongoing use and maintenance of air quality dashboards for evidence-based policy and planning.
- Assist the Intervention Manager for Air Quality Monitoring in analyzing, integrating, and applying air quality data.
- Work closely with the Action Area Air Lead and contribute to related projects as needed.
