This role focuses on the design, analysis, and implementation of fault-tolerant architectures to facilitate scalable, high-fidelity quantum computation. You will create and assess error-correcting codes, decoding algorithms, and fault-tolerant gate constructions specifically for our hardware platforms, transforming theoretical QEC frameworks into practical protocols. Close collaboration with hardware, control, and compiler teams will be essential to model noise processes, enhance syndrome extraction and decoding performance, and establish logical performance metrics that guide system design. Infleqtion is seeking a Senior AMO Physicist to join its neutral atom quantum computing team in the UK. This full-time role is based at the Kidlington, Oxford office and the National Quantum Computing Centre in Harwell, with the option to work from home up to two days per week (subject to business needs and manager approval). Role overview This position centers on hands-on research within the expanding UK Physics Department. The Senior AMO Physicist will support ongoing projects and investigate new concepts for future quantum computing systems. Collaboration with physicists and engineers is a key part of the work. What you will do Project support Translate product requirements into atomic system designs. Model, simulate, and perform analytical calculations to verify system performance. Design and carry out testing and verification plans. Integrate opto-mechanical systems, electronics, and software into quantum devices.
