Key tasks include folding and inserting confidential documents into envelopes or packages, operating a metering machine to apply postage, and checking that each mailing meets quality standards. Accuracy and accountability are especially important, particularly during busy periods with tight deadlines. Work schedule Standard hours run Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Overtime is often needed, especially during the first week of each month for month-end processing. Extra hours may also be scheduled during the week or, on rare occasions, on weekends.
