Role overview The Phlebotomist & Laboratory Technician (Contract) will work 3-5 mornings per week on an ongoing basis. The role centers on venipuncture and processing blood, tissue, and other biofluid samples following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Full training will be provided for Onyx Bio’s protocols, including PBMC isolation, cryopreservation, and tissue processing. This position requires reliability, independence, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. What you will do Perform venipuncture on study participants and collect blood using specified tube types. Process blood and biofluid samples according to SOPs, including centrifugation, aliquoting, and pipetting. Carry out PBMC isolation, cryopreservation, and tissue processing (training provided). Run cell counts and viability checks with automated cell counters. Label, log, and store samples to meet study chain-of-custody requirements. Arrange sample shipping: pack with dry ice, schedule couriers, monitor temperatures, and complete documentation. Maintain lab equipment such as centrifuges, biosafety cabinets, and cell counters, and report maintenance needs. Follow all SOPs, document deviations, and keep accurate batch records. Requirements Active California Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT-1 or CPT-2) license in good standing. At least 2 years of phlebotomy experience in clinical, research, or laboratory settings. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently. Clear communication skills and a commitment to protocols and procedures.
