Position: Payroll Tax AccountantLocation: Maryland Heights, MO 63043Duration: Temporary position with potential for permanent hire until DecemberOverview: The Payroll Tax Accountant will ensure the timely processing and payment of weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll taxes. This role acts as the primary liaison between our clients and third-party taxing authorities. Responsibilities include conducting financial analysis of payroll tax systems in Workday (WD) and the General Ledger (G/L), managing month-end closing activities for assigned accounts, preparing accurate journal entries, and analyzing financial statements to clarify budget versus actual variances. The role also involves researching and reconciling G/L balance sheet accounts and coordinating acquisition-related tax payments.Key Responsibilities:Ensure timely payroll tax payments to Automated Data Processing (ADP).Monitor agency notices and resolve issues related to WD and ADP.Maintain and reconcile State Unemployment Insurance (SUI) rates.Stay updated on payroll tax laws and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations and analysis of ADP in relation to Workday.Reconcile general ledger transactions and prepare journal entries for payroll-related accounts.Manage quarterly multi-state reporting and reconciliation of W2/W2c’s.Identify and implement process improvements for efficiency.Coordinate new account coding and mapping in Workday.Ensure accuracy of system integration files.
