As a Technical Support Engineer & Quotation Specialist in Automotive Testing, you will be responsible for developing, validating, and optimizing technical quotations for road testing (track and open road) and durability (liability) services. Your role will involve understanding customer specifications and regulatory requirements to ensure cost accuracy and operational feasibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Needs Analysis
- Review RFQs and specifications related to road testing and durability.
- Define the technical scope for road testing, including track type, weather conditions, vehicle preparation and compliance, hourly mileage, and instrumentation.
- Establish the technical scope for durability testing, including installation type, weather conditions, vehicle preparation and compliance, endurance cycles, instrumentation, and monitoring.
- Identify specific client constraints, regulatory frameworks (EU, UN/ECE, etc.), safety imperatives including road safety, and road authorization requirements.
- Technical Offer Construction
- Break down the project into components:
- Track Testing (performance, endurance, braking, ADAS, etc.).
- Open Road Testing (regulatory validation, real conditions).
- Durability Testing (accelerated cycles, corrosion, fatigue, etc.).
- Assess resources: vehicles, drivers, engineers, measurement equipment, logistics, and administration.
- Break down the project into components:
- Costing and Optimization
- Calculate direct costs (track rental, fuel, e-fuels, instrumentation, personnel, etc.).
- Incorporate indirect costs (transport, insurance, permits).
- Propose options: overall package, trial-based costing, budget envelope.
- Technical-Commercial Interface
- Collaborate with the Testing, Planning, and Business Development teams.
- Present and defend quotations to clients.
- Ensure consistency between technical requirements and financial offers.
- Monitoring and Capitalization
- Maintain a database in a catalog version of costs by testing type (track, road, durability).
- Monitor the evolution of standards (WLTP, RDE, AFID, e-fuels, ADAS, etc.).
- Capitalize on feedback to enhance quotation accuracy.
