As the EH&S Director, you will play a critical role within a dynamic research organization that is developing pioneering technologies with significant environmental advantages.You will serve as a prominent advocate for safety and environmental responsibility in the workplace. Your responsibilities will include managing both internal and external resources to expand our safety program across an increasing number of sites. Collaboration with executive leadership will be essential to develop and implement safety strategies across research and development, manufacturing, and chemical production environments. This position reports directly to the VP of People & Places. The ideal candidate will be a quick learner, adept problem-solver, and proactive self-starter, thriving in a fast-paced startup setting.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and lead the strategy for the design, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of EH&S programs and processes.Guide and support team members through training, coaching, and mentorship to ensure compliance with all federal, state, local, and corporate regulations.Oversee EH&S specialists and external consultants in the execution and improvement of Twelve’s safety initiatives.Collaborate with operations, facilities, and IT teams to develop policies and programs that enhance the employee experience.Serve as a technical safety expert for research, process development, and manufacturing teams.Supervise EH&S training programs, including Hazardous Waste handling, GHS, Lockout/Tagout, and more.Conduct and coordinate risk assessments, regular workplace inspections, incident responses, and after-action reviews.Qualifications10-15 years of experience in Environmental Health & Safety.Proven experience leading EH&S initiatives in research and manufacturing environments.Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
