About the job
PsiQuantum is developing quantum computers designed to tackle problems that exceed the capabilities of current supercomputers and AI. Founded in 2016, the company aims for million-qubit, fault-tolerant systems, with applications across energy, pharmaceuticals, finance, agriculture, transportation, and materials science.
The company’s approach centers on silicon photonics and advanced semiconductor manufacturing, partnering with organizations such as GlobalFoundries to use large-scale chip production techniques. Photonics technology brings advantages for scaling, including resistance to heat and electromagnetic interference, as well as compatibility with cryogenic cooling and standard fiber-optic infrastructure.
In 2024, PsiQuantum began government-supported projects to build utility-scale quantum computers in Brisbane, Australia, and Chicago, Illinois. The company also collaborates with Fortune 500 firms to develop algorithms and software for commercial quantum systems.
