Role Overview: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer This Senior Mechanical Design Engineer joins the Drivetrain and Actuators Team. The position centers on developing structural components, advanced motors, and geartrains, then integrating these systems into new vehicle platforms. Main Responsibilities Design and test drivetrain and actuator parts for light electric vehicles. Create detailed drawing packages and manufacturing instructions for assemblies and mechanical components. Build 3D models for components and assemblies, including die castings, injection-molded plastics, sheet metal, and fasteners. Work with electrical engineers to integrate PCBAs, wire harnesses, and electronics into mechanical systems. Coordinate validation activities with Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers. Develop and execute design verification plans and reports (DVP&R). Lead and maintain design failure mode and effects analyses (DFMEAs). Prototype and iterate designs through hands-on fabrication and lab testing. Qualifications Experience designing drivetrain components such as gears, bearings, castings, electric motors, thermal systems, and low voltage interconnects. Strong knowledge of material properties, heat treatment, statics, and dynamics. Proficient with 3D/2D CAD tools (Catia V5/V6 preferred) and CAE software (such as Ansys, Abaqus, or HyperWorks). Thorough understanding of GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis. Familiar with PLM systems, bill of materials structuring, engineering change, and deviation processes.
