Role overview
This Experienced Autobody Technician position calls for a skilled professional who can assess, repair, and restore damaged vehicles. The role involves maintaining high standards for structural integrity, function, and appearance. Managing multiple tasks and maintaining attention to detail are essential in this busy shop environment.
What you will do
- Review damage reports and repair cost estimates to plan repair strategies.
- Inspect vehicles for collision damage, checking exterior parts and power accessories for proper function.
- Repair or replace body panels, doors, frames, underbody, and front-end components.
- Straighten bent frames and repair dents using frame and underbody pulling equipment and appropriate tools.
- Perform welding using MIG and compression spot welders.
- Dismantle damaged areas to identify hidden issues early in the repair process.
- Prepare surfaces for painting, including filing, grinding, sanding, and masking as needed.
- Apply primers and repaint surfaces to restore the vehicle’s finish.
- Fill holes and seams using various techniques and tools.
- Ensure all repairs meet factory specifications.
- Inspect completed repairs and conduct test drives to confirm proper handling and quality.
- Read and interpret repair estimates accurately.
