SUMMARY OF THE AUTO COLLISION APPRAISER/ESTIMATOR ROLE:In this pivotal position, the Auto Collision Appraiser/Estimator is tasked with generating precise repair estimates for vehicles involved in collisions. This role requires strong interaction with various stakeholders, including customers, insurance representatives, vendors, and team members within the repair facility. A professional demeanor is essential to reassure customers and set clear expectations about the repair process. The estimator must possess a profound understanding of collision impacts on vehicles and accurately identify damages. All estimates must reflect thorough research on factory repair specifications while complying with shop policies and insurance guidelines.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:Educate customers about the repair process and set realistic expectations.Utilize estimating software proficiently to generate accurate estimates.Understand insurer assignments, including terms such as LOU (Loss of Use), WP (With Prejudice), 43 endorsement, betterment, and deductibles.Conduct quality control inspections during the repair process to ensure compliance with client, insurance, and OEM standards.Collect additional information from insured parties when necessary.Engage with customers to discuss accident-related damages versus pre-existing conditions.Capture high-quality photographs of vehicle damages according to shop policies and insurance requirements.Assess whether a vehicle is drivable or requires disassembly for a comprehensive estimate.Create detailed estimates covering all claim-related damages and verify adherence to OEM repair standards and procedures.Manage costs effectively by prioritizing repair solutions and sourcing parts according to guidelines.Input accurate dates in estimating systems to maintain real-time data.Communicate essential claim details to insurers and customers, including scheduling and potential delays.Ensure correct parts selection for repairs, confirming model specifications and availability.Schedule sublet services as needed.Accurately manage all invoices related to parts, sublets, rental, and towing, ensuring they are tracked according to insurer guidelines.
