Join the BKF Engineers Team as a Temporary IT Help Desk Technician I!
Are you enthusiastic about technology and dedicated to providing exceptional customer service? We are looking for an IT Help Desk Technician I to be the first point of contact for our users needing technical assistance. In this role, you will support our organization's technology infrastructure and assist with various IT-related issues. Please note: this is a temporary position expected to last six months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the initial contact for users requiring technical support.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network problems via phone, email, and in-person.
- Install, configure, and deploy computer hardware, software applications, and peripherals.
- Assist users with application-related issues and provide guidance on effective software usage.
- Maintain an inventory of IT equipment and manage software licensing compliance.
- Document, track, and manage support requests using the help desk ticketing system.
- Deliver basic IT training to staff on new technologies.
- Collaborate with senior IT team members to resolve complex issues.
- Support IT projects and initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred; equivalent work experience will be considered.
- 1-2 years of experience in IT support or help desk environments.
- Basic understanding of computer hardware, software, and networking concepts.
- Familiarity with Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Outstanding communication skills paired with a strong customer service mindset.
- Effective problem-solving abilities and the capacity to stay composed under pressure.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Willingness to work on-site and assist during emergencies or after hours as needed.
Physical Demands:
Regularly communicate and operate various IT devices; occasional lifting of equipment up to 40 pounds may be necessary.
Work Conditions:
The IT Help Desk Technician will primarily work in an office environment, with travel to other office locations for technical support as required. Routine office hours are expected, with flexibility needed for after-hours support during critical incidents or system upgrades.
Benefits:
- The hourly pay rate for this position ranges from $23.00 to $30.00 and may vary based on skills, experience, education, and geographical location. This is an hourly role paid bi-weekly.
- As a temporary role, benefits beyond those required by California law will not be provided.
