Job Role SummaryThe Senior Mainframe Systems Programmer plays a critical role in supporting ongoing projects that involve the installation, testing, and implementation of new operating systems and system software. Responsibilities include the maintenance and debugging of systems software, coordinating IOGEN work for new Mainframe hardware, and conducting research and evaluation of new software and hardware products. This position will also assist team members and other departments with technical inquiries and problem resolution, while actively monitoring and tuning systems software. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 6 years of experience; equivalent work experience will be considered. 5+ years of hands-on administration experience with Windows operating systems. 5+ years of hands-on experience in managing VMware environments. 5+ years of hands-on administration experience with RHEL or other Linux distributions. Ability to concurrently manage multiple projects, prioritizing resources and timelines effectively. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Results-driven team player dedicated to fulfilling team commitments. Experience in system configuration automation using scripting languages such as Perl, Python, Bash, or DevOps tools like Chef or Puppet. Capability to mentor technical operations personnel in relevant technologies as necessary. A solid understanding of the competitive landscape from both business and technical perspectives is advantageous.
