Role Overview
The Material Planner plays a vital role in ensuring production readiness by planning material requirements, managing the release of supply from blanket purchase orders, and overseeing the flow of materials through our vendor network. This position collaborates closely with Production, Engineering, and Procurement teams to guarantee that materials are available to maintain stable and reliable production schedules.
Key Responsibilities
Material Planning & Schedule Stabilization
- Develop and maintain comprehensive material plans that align with production schedules to reduce delays.
- Release materials from blanket purchase agreements according to demand signals, consumption trends, and established production timelines.
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries that uphold stable production plans.
- Manage the flow of sub-components through vendors to ensure timely delivery of end items for production.
- Promptly resolve shortages, supplier delays, or quality issues to safeguard production schedules.
- Contribute to cost-reduction initiatives by enhancing planning accuracy and facilitating cross-functional collaboration.
- Identify inefficiencies and suggest improvements to enhance material flow and schedule reliability.
Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) & Impact Analysis
- Review ECOs to assess impacts on materials, BOM, and processes.
- Conduct impact analyses to evaluate inventory exposure, transition timing, and potential effects on production schedules.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Procurement to implement changes smoothly, minimizing disruptions and avoiding unnecessary costs and obsolete inventory.
Supplier Collaboration
- Engage with suppliers in both operational and strategic capacities to optimize material availability.
