Internship Overview The Public Policy and Research Internship at AHLA offers paid, hands-on experience in government relations, membership services, and communications. This summer program provides a close look at how an association operates and insight into the hotel and lodging industry. Interns participate in projects tied to policy, advocacy, communications, member engagement, strategic partnerships, and AHLAF programs. Training and development sessions are included throughout the internship. The 2026 program runs from June through August, with a hybrid schedule: interns work in person at the Washington, D.C. headquarters from Tuesday to Thursday. The internship lasts 10 to 12 weeks, starting June 8, 2026. Compensation is $25 per hour, paid bi-weekly, plus a $75 monthly transportation stipend. Interns are responsible for arranging their own health insurance, housing, and travel to and from Washington, D.C.
