The Facilities Maintenance Operations (FMO) team at Harvard University is dedicated to delivering a comprehensive range of labor-based services, including building maintenance, landscaping, and custodial responsibilities across the campus. FMO operates under a fee-for-service model, ensuring that all services align with regulatory standards and meet the high expectations set by the university community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond promptly to all types of building infrastructure maintenance requests, focusing especially on HVAC systems.
- Conduct inspections, adjustments, modifications, and repairs on various boilers, heating, and cooling systems, as well as auxiliary equipment.
- Interpret and update mechanical plans and schematics as necessary.
- Utilize DDC technology to monitor, query, and report on the status of building systems.
- Take initiative for follow-up actions when required.
- Provide exceptional customer support throughout all phases of building maintenance and operations.
- Advise customers on maintenance solutions while providing updates on the progress of work.
- Perform a variety of core trade skills and related duties as needed.
- Work independently or collaborate within a multi-trade team under the supervision of the Area Supervisor or Working Foreperson.
- Consistently adhere to safety protocols by wearing appropriate safety clothing and equipment.
- Maintain a professional appearance by wearing the designated uniform at all times.
Working Conditions:
- Designated as Critical Operations Personnel, required to provide on-site support during emergencies as determined by management.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. and assist in transporting equipment exceeding 200 lbs. with others.
- Use of chain falls and come along for heavier lifting may be necessary.
- Capability to push and pull heavy loads as required.
- Must be able to stoop, bend, and work in various awkward positions for extended periods, including walking between buildings with tools and equipment.
- Ability to work alone and safely navigate multiple sets of stairs and use ladders, staging, and lifts.
