- Perform routine inspections of building systems including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and overall facility conditions.
- Ensure cleanliness and address any deficiencies in the facility promptly.
- Diagnose and recommend repairs for mechanical and electrical malfunctions.
- Execute plumbing repairs such as replacing flush-o-meters, metering cartridges, water fountain filters, and sink faucets.
- Carry out minor electrical repairs, including tasks related to low-voltage PA systems, LAN cabling, and changing light fixtures, switches, and outlets.
- Repair and install doors, door hardware, and locks.
- Prepare and paint walls and woodwork; undertake refinishing tasks as required.
- Build, repair, and install counters, cabinets, partitions, and other fixtures.
- Conduct spot repairs on VCT flooring and rubber treads.
- Perform scheduled maintenance on building systems.
- Estimate materials required for repairs accurately.
- Monitor budget expenditures to prevent exceedances.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with school personnel and vendors.
- Identify issues requiring escalation to supervisors or managers for guidance or assistance.
- Assist with general maintenance tasks as directed by the onsite facilities manager.
- Ensure safety at work sites and conditions.
- Respond to emergency situations and provide essential repairs or act as a liaison during facility emergencies.
- Collaborate with other school employees during emergency operations.
- Utilize the work order system diligently, ensuring all work is documented and updated promptly.
- Maintain records of preventive maintenance inspections and reports for each site.
- Keep an adequate supply of repair parts and request necessary supplies via established procedures.
- Oversee snow removal vendors as needed.
- Safeguard company property and report any facility damage or theft immediately.
- Respect confidentiality of records and information in the course of professional duties.
- Serve as a role model by demonstrating a positive attitude, appropriate grooming, and a strong work ethic.
- Participate in required in-service workshops and meetings.
- Exhibit ethical and professional behavior while interacting with students, parents, school personnel, and external agencies.
