Responsibilities:Lead and manage a commissioning crew effectively. Conduct testing and commissioning of MV/HV power system protection & control schemes within the utility, power generation, and oil & gas sectors. Interpret technical drawings and troubleshoot technical issues efficiently. Train and develop team members to achieve maximum performance standards. Prepare and submit detailed reports. Assist in creating commissioning startup procedures and work instructions. Ensure adherence to safety practices in line with corporate, client, and industry standards. Engage with customers to discuss technical details and confirm resolutions to issues. Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Electrician Journeyman Ticket, or an Electrical Engineering Technologist Diploma from a recognized institution. Eligible for registration with APEGGA, ASET, or a similar body. Thorough understanding of electrical power system protection and control principles, including SCADA, relay protection, metering, functional equipment, and telecom networks. At least 5 years of proven experience in medium and/or high voltage utility substations and power generation, with supervisory experience leading projects in both greenfield and brownfield substations. Experience with relay testing of microprocessor-based protection IEDs (SEL, ABB, Siemens, GE, etc.) utilizing fully automated test equipment (Omicron CMC356) and test data management. Proficient in high voltage primary equipment testing and commissioning, covering power transformers, reactors, circuit breakers, CTs, PTs, surge arrestors, disconnect switches, and capacitor/reactor banks. Familiarity with testing and commissioning according to NETA/IEEE/IEC standards. Strong knowledge of CSA Z462 safety standards. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills complemented by a keen attention to detail.
