Role Overview
The Field Service Industrial Maintenance Specialist works onsite at customer locations in Indianapolis, Indiana and surrounding areas. This role covers advanced troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and technical leadership to keep manufacturing equipment running at peak performance.
Main Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair equipment by observing machines in operation, dismantling assemblies, replacing faulty parts, inspecting for wear or defects, adjusting controls, and testing electrical and mechanical systems. CNC maintenance and repair experience is highly preferred.
- Source and select parts, supplies, and repair items. Assess alternatives to improve cost-effectiveness and equipment reliability. Develop proposals for retrofits, upgrades, and enhanced equipment features.
- Independently perform maintenance following industry standards. Create maintenance protocols and guidelines for new or modified manufacturing equipment.
- Advise customer teams on optimizing maintenance strategies, improving reliability, and establishing preventative maintenance procedures.
- Set up and operate machining tools such as lathes, drill presses, grinders, and other metalworking equipment to fabricate or repair components. Welding may be required.
- Comply with customer contractor codes of conduct, housekeeping requirements, and all safety protocols.
- Document completed work in service reports and management systems. Provide detailed observations and equipment performance data. Prepare technical manuals and maintenance procedures for equipment upgrades and automation projects.
- Mentor junior technicians and lead project teams, supporting training and development efforts.
- Troubleshoot and analyze complex control systems to resolve advanced software, hardware, and configuration issues.
- Use advanced diagnostic tools and methods to verify equipment performance and functionality.
