Role Overview:
We are looking for a dynamic Finance Lead who will take complete ownership of our financial operations. This position goes beyond basic bookkeeping; we need a visionary builder. You will design and establish our financial framework as we expand from approximately 100 employees towards our significant growth objectives.
As our inaugural full-time Finance Lead, you will connect meticulous operational tasks (such as bookkeeping, payroll, and compliance) with high-level strategic initiatives. You will serve as a vital advisor to our leadership team, ensuring that our unit economics are solid, our growth trajectory is sustainable, and our financial data is always ready for investors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Financial Partnership: Provide in-depth analyses on margins, CAC/LTV, business unit budget performance, and runway to guide important business decisions as an adviser to senior management.
- Operational Excellence: Oversee comprehensive financial operations including bookkeeping, preparation of management and statutory accounts, supplier payments, invoicing, and payroll for our team of about 100.
- System Building: Assess, implement, and refine a modern financial stack (ERP, expenses, payroll) capable of managing the intricacies of a fast-growing business.
- Fundraising & Investor Relations: Keep our cap table organized and lead financial due diligence preparations for future funding rounds and board reporting.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Manage the company’s ongoing financial model, providing proactive scenario-based predictions.
- Compliance & Audit: Maintain full compliance with UK regulations, overseeing the annual audit process and tax-related matters (including R&D tax credits, EIS & EMI compliance).
Qualifications:
- Professional Credentials: You are ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified with substantial post-qualification experience, preferably in a high-growth startup or scale-up environment.
- Experience: Proven track record in financial leadership roles, demonstrating strategic thinking and operational excellence.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in financial software and tools, with the ability to adapt to new technologies.
- Communication: Excellent communicator, capable of conveying complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
