The Financial Controller will oversee and regulate the Accounting and Administration functions to ensure the production of accurate performance data while complying with company and statutory regulations. This role is crucial for generating the Group Companies’ Weekly and Monthly Accounts, Cash Forecasts, Annual Budgets, and managing capital expenditure programs. The Financial Controller will provide essential management accounting data to support Directors in strategic decision-making. Additionally, the position will ensure compliance with all statutory reporting obligations including statutory accounts, VAT, PAYE, and other statistical returns. Building and maintaining strong relationships with external stakeholders such as lawyers, auditors, investment managers, insurance brokers, banks, VAT and tax inspectors, key suppliers, and customers is also a key responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Statutory Accounts: Ensure the timely completion and submission of the Group’s annual accounts in collaboration with Auditors and external accountants.
- Weekly Reporting: Fully accountable for the coordination, preparation, and review of weekly accounts and profitability statements.
- Periodic Forecasting: Manage the coordination and review of periodic forecasts, with regular reviews alongside the Management Team.
- Monthly Accounts: Oversee the preparation and review of monthly accounts, including a written analysis of variances against forecasts.
- Annual Budgets: Lead the coordination and review of Annual Budgets and Business Plans, aligning them with business developments and company strategy.
- Stock Management: Maintain rigorous controls on physical stock valuations and ensure accurate valuation preparation. Oversee monthly stock take activities to validate book stock.
- Management Information: Generate relevant data to inform management decisions regarding pricing, forecast volumes, stock mix, and trend analysis.
- Staff Management and Development: Serve as the line manager for accounts and admin staff, engaging in recruitment, coaching, conducting appraisals, and fostering team development and relationships across the business.
- Staff Job Descriptions: Create and agree on detailed job descriptions with staff, clearly outlining their expectations and targets to meet departmental objectives.
