About the job

Saronic Technologies is at the forefront of transforming maritime autonomy, committed to creating advanced solutions that significantly improve operational efficiencies through intelligent, autonomous platforms.

Position Overview

We are on the lookout for a dynamic and skilled Forward Deployed Hardware Engineer to enhance our technical team. You will leverage your solid mechanical and electrical engineering expertise to transition our innovative technology from laboratory settings to active maritime operations.

This role diverges from traditional engineering positions, as you will be tasked with deploying our systems in real-world environments, providing direct support for maritime missions. You will integrate cutting-edge mechanical and electrical payloads, troubleshoot intricate system-level challenges, and refine hardware designs in situ to ensure operational success. Expect a hands-on position, with time allocated between the lab, fabrication areas, and the waterfront.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a multidisciplinary field engineer responsible for the mechanical and electrical integration of innovative systems and payloads onto our Autonomous Service Vessels (ASVs) and other maritime platforms.

  • Lead rapid prototyping initiatives to facilitate field testing and platform advancements.

  • Conduct system initialization, integration, and troubleshooting of power, networking, sensors, and computing subsystems.

  • Oversee dockside and sea trials, preparing vessels, installing new hardware, and validating systems in operationally relevant settings.

  • Incorporate design-for-assembly and design-for-deployment feedback into hardware development processes.

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Mechanical, Electrical, Software, and Autonomy Engineers, to enhance and solidify system designs.

  • Engage with suppliers and fabrication shops to expedite the turnaround of custom components and harnesses.

  • Contribute to documentation and training materials to support the scalability of deployment and manufacturing operations.
