Opportunity Overview
Each project presents unique challenges, and contributors may be involved in the following:
- Creating original materials that simulate real-world engineering workflows;
- Developing engineering problems that require Python programming for calculations and simulations;
- Ensuring the problems are computationally intensive, necessitating numerical methods or iterative solutions;
- Designing problems related to system design, optimization, and analysis;
- Grounding problems in actual research challenges or practical engineering applications;
- Validating solutions through Python using standard engineering libraries;
- Clearly documenting problem statements and providing verified solutions.
Qualifications
We are seeking material scientists and engineers with Python experience who are interested in part-time, project-based roles. Ideal candidates will possess:
- A degree in Material Science or a related discipline;
- Proficiency in Python for numerical validation; familiarity with MATLAB, R, C, SQL, Numpy, Pandas, SciPy, or other programming languages is acceptable;
- At least 2 years of professional experience, including applied, research, or teaching roles;
- A strong grasp of practical engineering constraints and approximations;
- Excellent written English skills (C1+ level).

Project Commitment
Tasks for this project are estimated to require approximately 10-20 hours per week during active phases, depending on project demands. This estimate is not a guaranteed workload and applies only while the project is active.
Compensation
Contributors can earn up to $45 per hour, depending on their level of expertise and contribution speed. Please note that compensation may vary across different projects based on scope, complexity, and required skills.
