We are specifically recruiting for:
- Face-to-Face Interpreters
- Telephone Interpreters
- Video Interpreters
- Translators
Please note that this is a self-employed position.
The Role
As an interpreter, your responsibilities will include listening, comprehending, and retaining information in the original 'source' language, then accurately conveying the message into the 'target' language.
Your tasks will involve:
- Interpreting for individuals accessing legal, healthcare, and local government services
- Verifying understanding with non-English speakers after each sentence
- Conducting conference, consecutive, and public service interpreting
- Handling sensitive and confidential information
- Acting as a liaison between service users and service providers
Qualifications
- Fluency in English and at least one other language
- Eligibility to work in the UK
- A minimum age of 21 years
- Preferred formal qualifications include:
- Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (DPSI)
- Community Interpreting
- NRPSI, CIOL, or ITI registration
- Degree in Translation/Interpreting/Languages
- Any other relevant interpreting qualifications
