Role overview
This freelance optical engineer role centers on creating and assessing advanced optics and physics problems for AI development. Tasks involve designing scenarios that reflect authentic research challenges, often requiring computational approaches that go beyond manual calculation.
What you will do
- Develop original optics problems modeled after current physics research workflows
- Design computationally demanding problems that cannot be solved manually within days or weeks
- Create problems involving complex reasoning in mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, and quantum mechanics
- Base each problem on real research challenges or practical applications in optics and physics
- Write clear problem statements and supply verified, accurate solutions
Requirements
- Degree in Physics (theoretical, experimental, or computational) or a closely related field
- Minimum 2 years of experience in applied, research, or teaching roles
- Understanding of numerical simulation methods
- Skill in designing problems that reflect real research workflows
- Creativity in problem design across multiple physics domains
- Familiarity with physics modeling and approximation techniques
- Written English proficiency at C1 level or higher
