Founded in a London flat in 2009, Sofar Sounds emerged as a solution to a declining appreciation for live music. What started as a small initiative has evolved into a worldwide movement, keeping the essence of live music while branching into comedy, dance, and more, all while maintaining a stellar reputation for uncovering emerging talent.
Numerous prominent artists, including Billie Eilish, Jack Harlow, and Hozier, have graced Sofar stages early in their careers. Sofar goes beyond being just a performance venue; it empowers artists by offering a professional platform that integrates both physical and digital elements, managing everything from booking and promotion to audience engagement, while also providing access to an extensive network of opportunities such as brand partnerships and media exposure.
Each Sofar show is a unique experience, taking place in extraordinary venues, from private homes to unconventional spaces like caves or rooftops. Attendees are invited to engage deeply with the performance, using their devices to support artists and connect with the community rather than as a distraction.

The Role
As a Freelance Local Producer, you'll become part of a global community of innovative thinkers and cultural influencers, collaborating and sharing insights with peers worldwide while enriching the cultural tapestry of Halifax. Our Producers possess strong business acumen, cultural awareness, and extensive local networks, spanning artists, venues, brands, and community organizations. They are innate promoters, dedicated to crafting impactful, memorable pop-up events that foster genuine engagement. Producers are resourceful, proactive, and determined; whether devising creative ticket sales strategies or adeptly navigating the unpredictability of live events, they excel at execution and problem-solving.
