Qualifications
Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related quantitative discipline. An MBA or relevant Master’s degree (such as MSc in Finance or Financial Management) is highly desirable. Professional certifications such as ICAN (Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria) or ACCA are mandatory. Additional certifications like CFA, CITN, or CMA are strongly preferred. A minimum of 12–15 years of progressive experience in financial management, treasury, and corporate accounting, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role, preferably within the oil and gas downstream or midstream sectors. Extensive understanding of the Nigerian financial and regulatory landscape, including IFRS reporting standards, FIRS tax regulations, CBN foreign exchange guidelines, and the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA). Proven expertise in capital raising, working capital management, trade finance (Letters of Credit), and managing complex financial operations.

The Group Financial Controller is a pivotal executive leadership position responsible for ensuring comprehensive financial assurance, capital management, and risk-informed fiscal governance across the enterprise. This role serves as a trusted advisor to the CFO and senior management, promoting financial transparency, integrity of controls, and compliance with both Nigerian and international accounting standards (IFRS). The incumbent will spearhead efforts to advance a progressive, agile, and digitally-driven finance function that aligns with the company's investment and growth strategies in the energy sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a strategic advisor to the CFO and senior leadership regarding financial strategy, capital allocation, and internal control frameworks.
- Analyze financial trends, assess emerging economic risks, and stay informed on tax legislation to ensure compliance with FIRS guidelines, oil and gas fiscal regulations, and other relevant financial laws.
- Develop and uphold a robust financial framework, encompassing budgeting policies, treasury monitoring programs, and reporting mechanisms.
- Drive the establishment of a culture of fiscal discipline and ethical practices across the organization to protect company assets.
- Partner with the Enterprise Risk Management team to integrate thorough financial risk assessments in both downstream and midstream trading operations.
- Identify potential liquidity gaps, financial threats, and opportunities for cost efficiency and operational enhancements.
- Design and implement effective systems for testing, monitoring, and financial controls to detect and mitigate leakages, fraud, and reporting inefficiencies.
