Role overview

The Head of People shapes and develops a high-performing, people-focused studio in London. This position guides company culture, leadership, and team growth as Studio XAG evolves. Reporting to the Managing Director and sitting on the Horizon leadership team, the Head of People translates business goals into a clear People plan. The role combines strategic planning with hands-on work, collaborating closely with leaders to support key initiatives and ensure the People function aligns with Studio XAG’s ambitions.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a People strategy that aligns with business objectives.
  • Nurture a culture that balances creativity, performance, and care as the studio grows.
  • Advise senior leaders on organizational and people-related matters.
  • Strengthen leadership skills and coach senior leaders to improve team effectiveness and decision-making.
  • Support the development and progression of future leaders within teams.
  • Lead a focused Learning & Development strategy for all levels, integrating practical initiatives for leadership, craft, and team capabilities.
  • Oversee and improve performance frameworks, ensuring clear roles, expectations, and accountability across teams.
  • Facilitate regular, meaningful performance conversations centered on outcomes.
  • Manage and adapt the studio’s organizational structure, establishing clear team frameworks and succession plans.
  • Monitor key talent, identify emerging leaders, and assess potential risks to guide hiring and development decisions.
  • Oversee hiring strategy and standards, defining roles clearly and maintaining consistent hiring practices.
  • Partner with leaders to build effective, balanced teams.
