About the job

Job Title: Injection Molding Cost Estimator
Location: Shelby Township, MI (Hybrid possible)
Company: Atomic Industries
Reports To: Head of Manufacturing

About Atomic Industries

At Atomic Industries, we are revolutionizing the manufacturing landscape. Specializing in automotive, aerospace, medical devices, and packaging, we understand that most tangible products start their journey in a mold or are shaped by a manufacturing tool. Our mission is to accelerate this process, which has traditionally been lengthy and reliant on limited expertise.

Headquartered in Detroit, we blend the rich industrial heritage of America’s manufacturing core with the agility, intelligence, and precision found in Silicon Valley. Our AI-driven platform addresses complex challenges in geometry, process planning, and fabrication, significantly reducing production timelines from weeks or months to mere days, soon, even minutes. We don’t just develop software; we operate a fully functional factory producing production-grade tooling weekly, facilitating tight feedback loops and rapid iteration.

Backed by premier investors, our goal is to reinvigorate the speed, flexibility, and capability of the American industrial sector. We aim to reshape manufacturing to be as dynamic and scalable as the digital realm, thereby revitalizing the infrastructure of the physical economy.

Position Overview

We are in search of a meticulous and technically proficient Injection Molding Cost Estimator to enhance our quoting, pricing strategies, and business development efforts. This role serves as a vital link between engineering, tooling, and operations, transforming customer RFQs into precise, competitive, and detailed proposals.

You will assess part geometry, material specifications, mold complexity, and production volumes to model cost scenarios and recommend pricing strategies that align with Atomic’s margin objectives and value propositions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Thoroughly review and analyze RFQs, part files, prints, and customer requirements.

  • Estimate comprehensive part costs, including material, cycle time, labor, machine time, overhead, and secondary operations.

  • Quote mold/tooling costs utilizing internal templates and insights from the tooling team.

  • Identify and model various pricing strategies such as full tool cost, subsidized tooling, or tooling at cost.

  • Collaborate with Sales and Engineering to develop compelling proposals and timelines.

  • Maintain historical data and construct evolving cost models over time.

About Atomic Industries

Atomic Industries is at the forefront of reimagining manufacturing, combining the industrial strengths of Detroit with cutting-edge technology to streamline production processes across various sectors.
