Position Title: Lecturer Pool - Kinesiology
Position Details:
This role involves teaching a range of activity-based courses such as Swimming, Racquet Sports, Team and Individual Sports, Dance, Aerobics and Fitness, and Jogging. Additionally, lecture-based topics include Exercise for Healthy Living, Exercise Electrocardiography, Clinical Evaluation of Lower and Upper Extremities, Sport and Exercise Psychology, Adapted Physical Education, Movement Education, Sport and Aging, Care of Athletic Injuries, Exercise Physiology of Women, Energy Production and Performance, Exercise Programming, and Sleep and Performance. Professional physical education pedagogy courses are also offered, focusing on Team and Individual Sports and Student Teaching Supervision. Coaching courses will cover Theory of Sport/Fitness Management and Ethics, Inclusion, and Equity in Coaching. Lab-based courses include Motor Learning Control, Applied Exercise Physiology, Applied Biomechanics, Exercise Physiology, and Cardiovascular Testing.
As a part-time lecturer, you will be responsible for instruction, class preparation, grading, and maintaining office hours. Other duties may be assigned according to departmental needs. Course assignments, including dates, times, and modalities, are determined by the Department Chair under the guidance of the College Dean.
Part-time lecturers are instructional faculty with conditional appointments based on enrollment and budget. Hiring from the applicant pool occurs when there are instructional needs to fill courses offered by the academic department due to various factors. Initial appointments typically span one semester, with occasional academic year appointments. Renewals depend on departmental needs, funding, and performance. Appointments are often made just before the semester begins.
Rank and Salary:
Initial rank and salary for lecturer positions are based on professional experience and educational background. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank, with salary ranges as follows: Lecturer A: $5,507 - $6,677; Lecturer B: $6,221 - $13,224; Lecturer C: $6,825 - $14,523; Lecturer D: $8,593 - $15,211 (salaries reflect full-time rate).
