As an Accountant reporting directly to the Head of Finance, you will collaborate closely with budget holders to prepare comprehensive budgets, track financial performance, and identify opportunities for improvement. Your role will involve producing timely management accounts, necessitating effective communication with non-financial managers. You will also oversee accounts payable/receivable and various finance system projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute all month-end processes, including journals, accruals, prepayments, recharges, and updates to fixed assets.
- Issue accounts receivable invoices.
- Verify and confirm time entries recorded by operational staff in the Timesheet system.
- Conduct monthly payroll reviews to ensure financial integrity.
- Maintain a robust purchase order system, ensuring adherence to controls and updates to the Chart of Accounts.
- Perform bank reconciliations and manage cash flow effectively.
- Conduct and document balance sheet reconciliations, investigating variances as needed.
- Prepare monthly Management Accounts with detailed commentary and variance analysis, challenging actuals against budget forecasts.
- Prepare key performance indicator reports, including analyses of purchase orders and project overspends.
- Compile management information and analysis for quarterly meetings with the Estates team.
- Support the Head of Finance in enhancing accounting, cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes to meet business needs and comply with policies and audit requirements.
- Continuously develop your skills and knowledge, participating in training as necessary.
- Handle system changes as required and undertake any other ad hoc duties and projects as needed.
