Overview of the Role:
The Accounts Payable Manager is responsible for overseeing all payment-related activities within the accounts payable department. The individual will ensure adherence to service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs), as well as compliance with internal and external regulations, policies, and procedures.
The position reports directly to the Head of Accounts Payable, managing a team dedicated to operational tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the entire payment cycle, guaranteeing timely disbursements aligned with organizational policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and performance benchmarks.
- Establish and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, proactively engaging through structured interactions to anticipate needs and eliminate operational hurdles.
- Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of foreign exchange regulations as mandated by the State Bank of Pakistan and commercial banks, guiding teams and departments through the documentation and regulatory requirements for timely and compliant foreign payment processing.
- Enhance collaboration with banking partners and key stakeholders to ensure the timely and seamless execution of payment obligations.
- Drive initiatives for continuous improvement by participating in weekly tactical forums with the line manager and key stakeholders, promoting consistent enhancements in service delivery and operational excellence.
- Oversee due payments, management information system (MIS) reporting, and booked transactions to ensure accuracy, transparency, and control.
- Manage the escalation framework, exercising sound judgment in approving exceptions while ensuring compliance with the defined governance structure.
- Conduct process reviews and benchmarking exercises to align operations with industry best practices, proposing and implementing changes that optimize efficiency and standardize workflows.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the team, empowering members to identify optimization opportunities and adopt best-in-class processes.
- Collaborate with the Head of Accounts Payable to further the finance function’s digital transformation agenda, ensuring the successful adoption of modern tools and process automation.
- Uphold strong governance by ensuring complete adherence to internal controls, regulatory requirements, and process-level compliance.
