Mila: A Global Hub for Artificial Intelligence
About Mila
Founded by Professor Yoshua Bengio from the University of Montreal, Mila brings together specialized researchers in artificial intelligence, focusing on machine learning, deep learning, and reinforcement learning. Recognized internationally for its significant contributions to deep learning, Mila has excelled in language modeling, machine translation, object recognition, and generative models. Since 2017, Mila has been the result of collaboration between the University of Montreal and McGill University, closely linked with Polytechnique Montreal and HEC Montreal.
Mila's mission is to serve as a global center for scientific advancement that inspires innovation and the growth of artificial intelligence (AI) for the benefit of all.

Role Overview
Mila provides researchers (~50 professors and ~1000 students) with substantial computational resources, including a high-performance computing (HPC) cluster. In the near future, some startups involved in research will gain access to our computing cluster, and we seek a dedicated individual to support them in making optimal use of these resources.
The selected candidate will spend a significant amount of time assisting these startups by offering guidance on their use of the cluster, monitoring its utilization, intervening as necessary with users, and producing educational content (e.g., documentation, tutorials, code, tools) that will be directly utilized by the broader Mila community (professors, students, and research community).
Key Responsibilities
- Assist users of the Mila computing cluster to ensure judicious use of computational resources, which includes software development, documentation writing, open office hours, and monitoring usage to prevent waste or misuse.
- Engage in various projects and discussions within the IDT team to better support the research community at Mila. Propose new perspectives and develop prototypes to evaluate new ideas.
- Stay updated with recent developments in AI research and practical methods for training and deploying models.
