QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
- Certifications: Current CPR Certification including Automated External Defibrillation (AED) is mandatory.
- Experience: Minimum of two years of teaching experience as a water aerobics instructor.
- Certification: Must possess Aquatic Exercise Association Instructor Certification or an equivalent qualification.
- Preferred: Certification as an Arthritis Exercise Instructor is advantageous.
JOB SUMMARY
The Aquatic Fitness Instructor will lead diverse aquatic exercise classes, develop choreographed routines, and coordinate music selections. This role necessitates the ability to provide safe and effective group exercise instruction tailored to participants of varying fitness levels. Responsibilities include planning and teaching appropriate fitness techniques in a systematic manner, designing various workout routines utilizing equipment, and offering continuous motivation and constructive feedback on exercise execution.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Stand or walk for 80-100% of the shift.
- Sit for 0%-20% of the shift.
- Perform physical activities including lifting, reaching, bending, twisting, bouncing, kneeling, squatting, climbing, and pushing/pulling for up to 90% of the shift.
- Able to run and swim short distances as required for emergency situations on rare occasions.
- Lift and carry up to 20 pounds occasionally.
- Frequent two-hand grasping to handle equipment and assist participants.
- Occasional fine hand manipulation required to handle small objects.
- Maintain the ability to demonstrate exercises effectively both on land and in water.
COGNITIVE DEMANDS
- Continuous alertness to monitor swimmers and adhere to established safety protocols to prevent accidents and drownings.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology.
- Basic writing proficiency for creating reports, including accident/incident documentation.
- Problem-solving skills necessary for critical decision-making related to swimmer behavior and safety.
