About the job
- Oversee the seamless operation of the banquet floor, guiding servers, bartenders, and porters in their responsibilities.
- Participate in daily management briefings to stay updated.
- Implement meetings and events by meticulously reviewing Banquet Event Order (BEO) details.
- Verify room setups for precision and accuracy.
- Collaborate with kitchen, stewarding, and catering teams to plan and coordinate event specifics.
- Facilitate pre- and post-function briefings, promoting effective communication among staff.
- Conduct regular quality inspections to ensure adherence to standards.
- Manage and direct staff to maintain clean, organized, and efficient back-of-house service areas.
- Establish and maintain communication with event organizers before, during, and after services to surpass expectations (minimum 40-minute check-in with clients).
- Coordinate on-site adjustments with kitchen and stewarding personnel.
- Engage with catering and other departments to discuss outcomes, opportunities, and successes of functions through function logs and personal follow-ups.
- Provide coaching and counseling to line staff during shifts.
- Engage in monthly communication meetings to enhance team dynamics.
- Conduct staff performance reviews to facilitate growth.
- Implement disciplinary processes to ensure accountability among colleagues.
- Assist staff members in excelling in their roles.
- Ensure accurate and timely billing of convention items following established procedures.
- Collaborate inter-departmentally to prioritize guest needs.
- Maintain a strong focus on achieving departmental goals related to meeting planner scores, colleague engagement, revenue prioritization, and health & safety.
- Perform regular inspections of banquet facilities and equipment.
Physical Aspects of Position (included but not limited to):
- Frequent standing and walking throughout shifts.
- Occasional lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling, and lifting activities.
- Occasional ascending or descending stairs and ramps.
