The Assistant Chief Engineer will assist the Chief Engineer and be accountable for the maintenance, repair, and operation of mechanical, electrical, and control systems across all museum sites. This hands-on role will include performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing issues, repairing equipment, and ensuring adherence to safety codes to guarantee the functionality of museum facilities.
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems.
- Assist in supervising the Facilities Engineering team.
- Support the engineering team with various responsibilities as needed.
- Develop work procedures and streamline workflow.
- Assign tasks and review completed work to ensure quality and compliance with team standards.
- Ensure all work adheres to established policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
- Standardize procedures to enhance team efficiency.
- Manage the engineering library and maintain infrastructure documentation.
- Ensure accurate as-built records of projects and document necessary operational and maintenance changes.
- Keep all engineering spaces organized and clean.
- Procure and maintain adequate stock of spare parts and tools for the team.
- Maintain a procedures manual for daily operations.
- Compile and manage service logs.
- Test and verify the functionality of building fire life systems.
- AA, OE, refrigerant, electrical, and other relevant certifications.
- Experience as a journey-level HVAC mechanic.
- A minimum of five years of experience managing essential building operations.
