Role Overview
The Assistant Controller will be instrumental in enhancing the company's accounting functions and financial reporting. This position entails overseeing essential accounting processes, optimizing workflow efficiencies, and providing technical mentorship to an expanding team.
Key Responsibilities
- Journal Entry Review & Process Improvement: Analyze a significant volume of journal entries and reclassifications while identifying opportunities for streamlining and enhancing accounting processes.
- Payment Approvals: Act as a meticulous reviewer for frequent outgoing payments and contribute to the enhancement of the payment workflow.
- Bank Transfers & Reconciliations: Prepare and approve bank transfers; review reconciliations across various bank accounts utilized for different business activities.
- Month-End Closing: Lead initiatives to strengthen and expedite the month-end closing process.
- Team Mentorship: Offer technical accounting guidance and mentorship to junior and less-experienced team members.
- Financial Reporting: Assist in internal financial reporting, ensuring improved quality, consistency, reliability, and accountability of deliverables.
Qualifications
Professional Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on general ledger accounting, month-end closing, bank reconciliations, and payment processing controls.
- Prior experience reviewing work or leading small teams is an advantage.
