As the Assistant Food Safety & Quality Assurance Officer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of our food safety and quality management systems. Your primary responsibility will include ensuring that all products adhere to both local and international safety standards through systematic implementation and monitoring.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the QA Manager in the establishment, execution, and upkeep of the organization's food safety and quality management systems, including Prerequisite Programs and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) across all manufacturing, handling, and distribution sites.
- Act as the SQF Practitioner for the warehouse and distribution center, overseeing the creation, execution, review, and maintenance of the SQF System, which encompasses food safety fundamentals and safety planning as per SQF Food Safety Code for Storage and Distribution, Edition 8.
- Ensure the SQF System's integrity through appropriate actions and effective communication with relevant personnel.
- Provide monthly updates to senior management regarding the SQF System's implementation and maintenance, documenting all communications.
- Conduct annual reviews of the SQF System and ensure compliance with public safety regulations set by local and international regulatory bodies, including the Bureau of Standards, Jamaica, and the FDA (FSMA).
- Assist in developing and implementing internal and supplier audit programs.
- Document and manage non-conformances to the Food Safety and Quality Management System (FSQMS) and ensure corrective actions are taken promptly.
- Present metrics related to food safety objectives, critical control points, and customer feedback to drive continuous improvement.
- Foster a corporate culture focused on food safety and compliance with established SOPs, good manufacturing practices, and sanitation requirements.
- Develop and deliver training programs for employees regarding Food Safety and Quality Management Systems, including Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP.
- Monitor and ensure the effective resolution of non-conformances and customer complaints.
