The Georgia Department of Education is seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Principal for the Georgia Academy for the Blind, part of the Division of State Schools. In this pivotal role, you will assist the school leader in driving both instructional and operational excellence for our PreK-12 student population with vision loss. As a key member of the school leadership team, you will advocate for the school community, collaborate with stakeholders to establish a shared vision for success, and engage students within their community.
Your responsibilities will include the development and execution of a comprehensive school improvement plan, resource allocation for continuous enhancement of student outcomes, and fostering a safe, vibrant learning environment for all students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the establishment and maintenance of the school mission and vision, encouraging shared leadership while addressing school dynamics.
- Enhance school climate by communicating clear objectives and fostering a positive atmosphere.
- Provide instructional leadership and engage in professional development aimed at continuous improvement.
- Leverage data to inform instructional decisions and guide school success.
- Promote a high-expectation and respectful learning environment.
- Effectively manage conflicts and crises as they arise.
- Facilitate shared decision-making processes.
- Oversee curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices.
- Assist in human resource functions, including the recruitment of quality educators.
- Create professional growth opportunities and mentorship programs.
- Support staff retention and teacher evaluation processes.
- Ensure compliance with legal standards for teacher evaluations.
- Contribute to the safety and daily organization of the school facility.
- Assist in managing fiscal resources and technology.
