In the role of Rising Principal, you will function as an Assistant Principal while receiving targeted coaching and professional development to prepare for a Principal position. Assistant Principals (APs) play a pivotal role in enhancing academic performance and fostering a challenging college preparatory atmosphere. They work closely with the Principal to articulate and implement the instructional vision for grades 1-3. APs manage and mentor teachers within their grade levels (3-9 instructional staff members) by conducting observation cycles, demonstrating lessons, co-developing unit plans, providing real-time coaching, and offering resources aimed at elevating educator effectiveness and leadership. Furthermore, APs act as cultural and community leaders by enhancing teacher capabilities in areas of culture, discipline, and parent engagement. APs may also collaborate with the school leadership team on various initiatives, including professional development, managing culture and discipline in shared spaces, overseeing the Enrichment Center Coordinators, and organizing special events (trips, community gatherings, evening functions).
Our school leaders have distinct aspirations, and we are committed to providing the necessary support for both the current academic year and beyond. As an AP, you will benefit from continuous professional development tailored to your coaching needs, ensuring your growth and success as a leader in conducting thorough observations, providing constructive feedback, and facilitating effective planning and one-on-one meetings. The training provided to Rising Principals will be customized to prepare leaders for either taking charge of an existing Rocketship campus or launching a new site. Preparations for the upcoming school year will commence in the spring.
