Position Overview:
The Assistant Vice President of Investment Accounting will oversee and manage the investment accounting functions of the organization. This role is accountable for addressing both internal and external investment accounting requirements, including the review and development of GAAP and statutory reports, implementation of new IT solutions, and collaboration on new investment accounting initiatives with various business partners. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in supporting NLG Capital's investment strategy across all asset classes, safeguarding the company's financial health. Experience with alternative investments such as private equity, private credit, and CLOs is crucial.
This position is expected to drive the formation of a next-generation investment accounting team, utilizing advanced technology to develop a scalable, intelligent, and resilient accounting function.
The Director of Investment Accounting will report directly to the Controller.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the Investment Accounting function, ensuring compliance with GAAP and statutory accounting for all asset classes within the Company’s consolidated investment portfolio.
- This includes, but is not limited to, bonds, RMLs, CMLs, alternative investments, debt and equity securities, private equity/private placements, and other financial instruments.
- Ensure precise month-end, quarter-end, and annual reporting of investment asset balances, liabilities, income, and expenses based on GAAP and statutory accounting.
- Establish and maintain external relationships with stakeholders pertinent to the investment accounting function.
