Purpose The Associate Director of Category Management collaborates closely with Director and VP-level stakeholders to formulate global procurement strategies, playing a crucial role in a cross-functional team that guides strategy development through comprehensive analysis, market insights, and alignment with broader business objectives. This position is responsible for crafting an annual strategic plan designed to meet ambitious performance targets in line with organizational goals.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Director and VP-level business or functional stakeholders to create global procurement strategies for the API, Intermediates, and Starting Materials category, serving as a strategic Business Partner.
- Develop a detailed annual strategic plan that aligns category strategies with overarching business objectives.
- Contribute to a cross-functional team that enhances strategic decision-making by utilizing market intelligence, staying updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and market dynamics.
- Identify and develop strategic value drivers with key category suppliers to establish collaborative partnerships that challenge conventional practices, aiming for cost savings, process optimization, and enhanced procurement value.
- Incorporate sustainability and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors into category strategies, partnering with suppliers to improve sustainable sourcing practices.
- Support Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) strategies, fostering innovation with key category suppliers to implement creative solutions that address long-term business needs.
- Design and implement mitigation strategies to proactively manage procurement risks within the relevant category, ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Oversee project management from inception to completion, guiding cross-functional teams to execute strategic category-related projects effectively. Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains, utilizing data analytics to develop long-term continuous improvement strategies that fulfill strategic objectives.
- Lead the complete procurement process from sourcing strategy to contract negotiation and execution, negotiating with key category suppliers and reinforcing decisions with strong analytical insights and strategic perspectives.
